New Echoes: Art Inspiring Art

April 2 – 20, 2024

New Echoes: Art Inspiring Art features incredible works done by students in Oil 1 & 2 and Advanced Drawing, taught by Assistant Professor Molly Kaderka at Oklahoma State University. This exhibition explores the creative responses of different mediums inspired by pieces in the OSU Museum of Art's collection. This opportunity gives students in Studio Art classes the experience of being up close with the art and choosing one that they will then copy and reinterpret in their own style. The selections presented in this exhibition demonstrate the strong influence an artist can have on another. Each student's piece varies in medium and ideas, such as the detailed portrait of a mythological being, 'Eco Hotke/Deer Woman,' by Studio Art Major Autum Tanner, and the captivating abstract landscape titled 'Sandia Mountains' by Studio Art major Laren Oyer. Visitors are invited to search for each inspiration found within the originals and then witness their transformation into the reimagined works of the students. This exhibition was juried by Autumn Bean.
